—- Start instructions
\nAdd the user (s) in question to the Performance Monitor Users group.
\nStart > Run > wmimgmt.msc, WMI Control (right click) Properties. In the
\nSecurity tab, expand root and select CIMV2, click Security button (lower
\nright); (click) Add > Performance Monitor Users and enable the options:
\nEnable Account and Remote Enable, and Apply, OK.<\/p>\n

Start > Run > dcomcnfg.exe
\nAt Component Services > Computers > My Computer (right click, select
\nProperties) in the COM Security tab, click Edit Limits under Launch and
\nActivation Permissions. Add the Performance Monitor Users then check Remote
\nLaunch, Remote Activation, OK, Apply, OK.<\/p>\n

At Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config (double click)
\nselect Windows Management Instrumentation (right click) select Properties,
\nunder Launch and Activation Permissions (click Edit button). Add the
\nPerformance Monitor Users an check Remote Launch and Remote Activation, OK,
\nApply, OK.<\/p>\n

Service check, authentication problems:
\nIn some cases you must also enable rights for the Service Control Manager.
\nGet the SID of the user you are authenticating with. From a command prompt
\nreplace with the username, run: wmic useraccount where name=” get sid
\nUsing this command replace with the user SID, and at the command prompt run:
\nsc sdset SCMANAGER
\nD:(A;;CCLCRPRC;;;)(A;;CCLCRPWPRC;;;SY)(A;;KA;;;BA)S:(AU;FA;KA;;;WD)(AU;OIIOFA;GA;;;WD)<\/p>\n

Domain based environments, authentication problems:
\nUsername should be: domain\\\\user
\nEscape special characters (like ? or !) in the password with “\\” (no quotes)
\nIn cases where you do not have permission to edit group policies, and NTLMv2
\nis the only authentication method allowed you may have to edit the specific
\ncheck_wmi check and append the following to force the use of NTMLv2:
\n–extrawmicarg “–option=client ntlmv2 auth=Yes”
